Does The Drug Mebendazole Effect The Pill?
ByI’m currently taking Microgynon 30, the combined pill. A member of my family has just found out that they’ve got threadworm, so we’re all being treated for it. So my question is, will the drug mebendazole effect the contraceptive pill Microgynon 30? Please only answer if you know for certain about the answer to this question please, thanks very much.

The professional literature that I have access to does not list an interaction between Vermox (mebendazole) and oral contraceptives. I have, however, found some *uncited* references to a possible interaction, decrease in BC effectiveness, while doing an internet search. My recommendation would be to use an additional form of contraception while on the drug and for a week longer. While it does not say so in the literature, these conflicting reports warrant caution.
