I’m taking a medication that causes constitpation. I take Metamucial daily however I still only have a bowel movement once every two weeks. When it does happen it is extremely painful. Sometimes I have to lay on the floor because I’m in so much pain. I have mentioned this to my doctor a number of times and she just attributes it to the medication. Is it normal to go only once every two weeks? Should it be so painful? I know you guys aren’t doctors but I was hoping that someone who has experience with this would respond. Thanks.
I have a ton of gas, but no bowel movements?
Posted by: | CommentsI haven’t had a really really good bowel movement since Tuesday, and had an okay one Wednesday, but none since. I’ve just had lots and lots of gas. Is this normal? Also what can I do to encourage bowel movements? I’ve just started eating healthier and exercising regularly, but I thought that would help. Any ideas?

Posted by: | CommentsIs 1x or 2x a week not enough? Sometimes she goes a week between movements and sometimes 3-4 days. I worry, but I read that breast milk is efficient and does not produce a lot of waste. Our naturopath thinks she should go more often and advises her to take flora powder to improve intestinal flora. She also passes a lot of gas and it gets stinkier and stinkier until she has a movement.
She is 5 months old.

Posted by: | CommentsI have asked alot of questions, but I have uumm tried to look closer at bowel movement and i notice if i push it around with something, ( too much info I know) the color is bright red it comes off of bowel movements. its almost like clotty or stringy. Is this something that would be in lower intestinal tract and if so what could it be.
I know a few people who had diarrhea before their labor started (very thoughtful of mother nature, lol) but what about frequent “regular” (i.e. not watery) bowel movements? Did this happen to anyone else?
